She entered the bus with her old bag used since she doesn’t even remember, paid quickly for the ticket without looking at bus driver (as they are always rude and aggressive) and started to walk quickly to the end of the bus. In the first moment she wanted to turn around and say “George, quickly! There are still two places free at the end of the bus!”. Also at the same moment she stopped for a second, realizing that it is impossible and will never happen. Her husband died half year ago. Cancer was destroying him secretly till the final attack when it was too late to do something. “Excuse me, can you walk on?” – old man behind her asked. Lisa didn’t even turned to say “sorry” or something like this, but just walked on and sat on the first free chair she saw. She has to sit, she experienced so many things, lived more than normal people, she has right to sit! But as she saw other free chair exactly opposite to her seat, she regretted her decision immediately. If someone sit here, what will she do? She hated this situation when you are unnaturally forced to sit so close to the stranger, you have to stare at your hands, read a book or have a nap just to not look into others eyes. But the worst is when long legs sit in front of you and it is impossible not to meet their knees. Oh! She shuddered at the thought of it. So the only way now is to stare through the window, finding some interesting, new things in the same buildings, passed by every day. That’s what she actually always does, while going by bus to the work. Each day the same. The same way, the same timetable. Waking up, breakfast at 8 o’clock – rolls from downstairs bakery, creamy cheese and orange juice – of course from natural oranges, no from the box! They had always fun with George preparing the juice. Almost always one of them had shirt dirty from orange’s leavings. After breakfast, going by bus to work (library), lunch time at about 2 and going back home by bus again. Then some books or TV – if there are any good films. But that’s rare. While going through the same streets to her work, she started to think that everything will be different if she had a child. They tried for a long time but probably God didn’t want them to have children. She just needs now someone to take care of. Or just talk with. Simply. Obviously she has also friends. She misses them really and knows that they can meet whenever she wants. But their sympathetic look is something impossible to stand. She doesn’t need compassion! Oh no. It happened. Out of the corner of her eye she saw a high, slim man sitting in front of her. But when, how? He must have sat very quietly or she was so immersed with her thoughts, that she didn’t realise. Anyway, now he is looking at her…
